When I was 16 2 years ago, I met a guy who I played CS:GO with me on a team. After a year or so, he asked me lend him some skins to help him earn more on a website called csgoblackjack. At the time, I didn't think too much of it. The other people on the team joined in and one day he removed and blocked everyone.
I, like the others, eventually got involved in selling/trading CS:GO skins/items for Paypal money in one way or another with this guy. After he removed everyone, he kept me on his Steam friends list, so that he could message me once every three days or so. He told me to hand over my Paypal account because the accounts I was dealing with would be limited, that my balance would go negative, and that he would pay me back for the skins he didn't return (~$900) or something along those lines.
I learned that one of my other teammates gave him his PayPal account, so I did too. I realize what a mistake I have made, but when I gave him access, I thought it would be fine since the balance is just positive and no bank/ssn was linked to it. Anyways, he took access and I didn't hear much from him at that point.
It was around October by the time I created a new PayPal account with the old email. I used the same info as I did with the account I lost access to, the one I stopped getting notifications on (I changed the email and details on the old one too...). I didn't get any new info about the old account until last Friday when I was emailed by PayPal saying that my account was limited because the old one had a negative balance.
I called PayPal and discovered that the old account had a negative balance of over ~$6300 which absolutely shocked me. If I heard correctly, the guy on the phone said that the debt might be with a third party debt collector already, but I'm not sure on that. I told my uncle situation and we called PayPal yesterday explaining that I had 0 access after September 2016. The representative said that PayPal would investigate the issue within the next couple of days.
As for the debt collectors, I don't think we've received any calls/letters as of yet and after checking credit reports, no collections seem to be listed. Maybe they didn't link the two accounts at the time? I'm lost. What do I do?
