Hi thereI am looking to install a freestanding bathtub in my rental apartment.I am trying to figure out the most effective drainage option. As it is a rental, I can't really change the plumbing. One idea was to have it positioned directly atop the drain hole in the floor, letting the water just dump down. But I'm unsure if this would even be effective.I have an alternative in mind but I am struggling to see the full concept. Perhaps your creative minds will work?My inspiration is a clothes washing machine. Usually, these have simple drain pipes that plug in to a laundry sink. I am imagining a similar connection from the bathtub up to a sink.Ideally, this drain pipe would be detachable. I can fill the tub, enjoy it, then when it comes to draining simply attach this drain pipe and unplug to let it all go.The risk here is if the drain pipe is unattached and the bath tub plug is accidentally unplugged... Disaster strikes!Alternatively, I am considering blocking the plug entirely and permanently, and using a pump to drain the bath. I would lower the pump into the bath when it is time to drain it and pump water to the sink. However, I am unsure if this will fully drain the tub or if a small depth of water would remain. For presentation purposes, I do not want to install a "permanent" solution to the drain pipe.Any amazing ideas as to how to resolve drainage of a freestanding bath tub that isn't plumbed in? via /r/DIY http://ift.tt/2vlhJd4
