So, the wife and I are splitting up, and I am transferring to another location for my job in another state. I have no friends or family here to stay with or help out.
What would the cheapest way of moving myself and all those things be?
I thought of mailing the stuff down and taking a bus, but I have tons of breakables. So not a great option.
I thought of renting a car, but it's like 500 dollars for 3 days. Half of which is a drop off fee. Doable but extremely expensive.
I thought of buying a cheap clunker and just driving it down so I also have a car for work when I arrive, instead of public transport. But it is a 600+ mile drive, and I don't want to risk it crapping out on me driving down a mountain.
Any insight from you guys and gals would be greatly appreciated.
Edit: I have $600-$750 to work with.
