After a few years of trying to buy happiness, being underpaid, living beyond my means and a series of other poor financial decisions I'm ready to commit to the frugal lifestyle.
I've been living more and more frugally over the last few months, but credit card debt is something I'm having a tough time with. I have about 15k in credit card debt. I keep getting letters telling me that I can renegotiate down into a lower lump sum and make lower payments from letters in the mail. Are these companies legit or do I just have to buckle down and pay it all off myself over time? Are there any real USA govt services that allow credit card deb to be forgiven?
