Okay, so I'm the stereotypical "I won't use my card unless I can pay it off" kind of guy...but here I am with $5000 debt on a Discover Card. I do have another card but that debt is manageable and the account has been open longer. My credit score is already starting to dip downward thanks to the sh**heads at Verizon for telling me not to pay my last bill, but sending my bill to collections anyway.
The thing is the credit card payment is now $120 monthly and with my other finances... it's just not going to happen feasibly. Good news is, I have an apartment rent lease for the next year, and just bought a car (I'm a f***ing moron, I know) and am able to pay my $500/month in student loans. I have other balances here and there, but I feel suffocated by the credit card balance. I'm not saving much money, if any at all... and I was wondering, in the grand scheme of things, would it be such a terrible idea to cancel the credit card with a $6000 limit?
Also, I would be limiting the want of using it.
Any advice is much appreciated.
