So, we read 'everywhere' that it's highly unlikely for fund managers and regular retail traders to beat the market consistently, and part of me wonders how much of this information is just repeated from other sources. What has been your personal experience?

I just finished reading this paper from Taiwan/Berkeley Haas/UC Davis that concluded there seemed to be a small portion of heavy day traders who beat the market on a regular basis (I am not sure of the time period covered...didn't read super thoroughly yet)
