We broke our bed when we did something together. Now my wife and I are bed shopping. We think we finally found a mattress we both like, and we'd like to get the best platform bed with drawers underneath, as this would be more supportive, and box springs are expensive and ugly(decided by our online research). But as it turns out, the thing we are having the most trouble with is whether to get a Queen or a King mattress. The difference in price for the bed frame is insignificant, but the difference in the mattress cost is not, but we think we can absorb that. So far, I guess we feel like this: Pro for King: More room to spread out, if we have a child, less cramped if a nightmare happens, after renovation our house is going to have an enormous bedroom and a queen might look tiny. Con for King: Need to replace all our bedding (more $$$), less incentive for cuddling, higher buy in. We're going to have to move into an apartment for a while during the renovation and we may end up having to rent a more expensive apartment to fit the bed or sleep on a bad mattress again, plus going back to a queen after sleeping on a king might be really hard. Pro for queen: More necessary cuddling, can keep our current bedding, for now, lower cost. Con for Queen: Still a big $ investment, is bigger better? The bed frame we are looking at is BIFL quality and over half the cost of the mattress. Will we regret investing in it if we want to get a king for our next mattress? Lastly, For almost same investment we are decided to go with King.
