Just a small reminder to other folks here, based on my recent experiences: always remember that purchasing via credit card gives you the option to revoke your payment via a chargeback if you don't receive what you paid for. So paying for high-value items via credit card and paying off your bill before it accrues interest even if you could pay up front is not only good for your credit score, but is safer in the event that something unusual happens.
Because the vendor will have the money taken away from them with an additional fee on top, they will often refuse to do further business with you if you take this course of action. That said, you have sixty days from the date of purchase to contest any charge on your bill, so holding onto this as a "last resort" can be very helpful when you have a problem.
I recently had an issue where an expensive package was stolen while in transit. Despite being assured by the police that the paperwork they had provided would be sufficient for any third parties and/or insurance claims, the vendor/shipper consistently asked for more and more paperwork - first via fax, then for the same paperwork via email after scanning, then for additional paperwork that didn't actually exist, then, two weeks into the process, a further demand for all prior paperwork to be re-sent on different letterhead. At this point I called them and demanded that the order be re-sent immediately or I would call my CC company to issue a chargeback as soon as the call was over. After several minutes on hold, they informed me the shipment would be sent out that same day, and I received a shipping confirmation within the hour.
If I had not purchased this item via credit card, I am certain that I would not have recovered my product or my money.
TL;DR - When making a purchase, credit cards provide an additional layer of protection in case something goes wrong that up-front payments do not.
