This is my first time actively applying for jobs while having a full-time job, and I don't know how I am going to find time to interview. I can't go during my very strict hour long lunch break because the area I want to work in is too far away, and there is a policy that any requested time off has to be made 2 full weeks in advance at minimum. This "2 week" rule already became an issue for me when I scheduled a doctor's appointment with less notice because I had noticed no one else was taking that day off. My manager called me into his office and asked how serious I was about my job and the company, in retrospect they must have assumed I was already applying for jobs and they must not have believed me about the doctor (I wasn't applying for jobs at that point, but am I wrong in thinking this policy is demeaning enough in itself to make someone want to find a new job?)
I said I was very serious about the job (what else was I supposed to say? "I do need this job for my finances, but no, I don't like working here and I want a new job, please don't fire me until I give you my 2 weeks."?) I also said that I would make sure ti schedule a Dr's appointment 2 weeks in advance for now on. So obviously I can't use the doctor. excuse.
But now I have a potential employer trying to set up an interview with me, and I expect another employer to request interview me as well, what do I say as an excuse when I know I will have to be excused multiple times?
