I consider myself frugal, but I do not consider myself cheap.

I'm happy to pay for something that I need, that is good quality. I budget, I track and I'm rewarded with absolutely no debt, and almost 75k in savings.

I am a 31f single mother of two children. I am responsible to provide and care for them and I feel like being smart about money is one way I do that.

I recently started considering dating...I've suggested to a couple dates that instead of go out for dinner, we can pack a picnic and share a glass of wine after at home. No one is paying, we both bring something to contribute to the picnic. We talk and have a good time...end of story. I can't believe how negatively my desire to save money and have a simple low key date has been met.

I've had people say that I am depriving my girls because I limit their clothing and toys. I don't buy them school pizza days or what have you. I make pizza at home and send it on those days.

I have also been chastised by my family for not upgrading my car or tv. I'm just tired of it! Why all the hate?! I'm just trying to be a responsible, mindful individual.

Does anyone else get flak for not wanting to spend money carelessly?
