As the title says, as part of my job, I am not allowed to trade in single name securities. (So Amazon, FB, Alphabet are a no no). However, I have a Fidelity account with me Roth IRA contribution, and I want to invest it instead of letting it just sit there. I don't know if ETF's are considered 'single name securities', but I would ideally like to invest this money ASAP in a mutual fund. I think I'm allowed to invest in index funds, but I'm not sure if ETF's are index funds, or if they're something different. Where do you think I should invest it?
