I bought an old house. It has central AC but poor circulation. It's already getting hot midday and the AC unit can't even catch up to setpoint, just chases it. The AC unit is 2 years old, the real problem is the duct work doesn't accommodate the expansions of the house now. Here's the thing. I have a 900 sqft basement full of cold air. Also they removed an old swamp cooler when they put the AC in, so there is a duct ideally located in the hallway ceiling.Everything I real about whole-house fans and attic fans suggest they are to be used when the outside air temp drops below the inside and you can quickly cool down the house. Would anybody ever install a whole-house fan just to open up a basement window...spend maybe 15-25 min pulling all that cool air upstairs, then shutting it off? via /r/DIY http://ift.tt/2qdfpCC
