I'm moving soon and looking for recommendations on a riding mower for the new place.
2 acre lot. Front acre has lots of obstacles, back acre is wide open. All flat, very even, covered in grass and professionally maintained before me.
It seems like zero-turn mowers are the way to go. Faster top-speed, much better maneuverability. I've read that front-mounted decks are better than mid-mounted as they allow you to get right up to the obstacles, leaving less trimming work. Down-side seems to be that they aren't any good at towing, so if I wanted to collect leaves or pull an aerator a ZTR may not be able to do it?
Zero turns seem to be more expensive. Are there any lawn tractors with a tight turning radius? My current rider has a 30" deck and about a 8' turning radius. I'm very tired of the 3 point turn in which I also have to disengage the blades while going backwards.
I think a 48" - 54" deck is probably the size range I need.
Thank you in advance!
