First time poster but long time lurker of PF...
If I didn't give enough information, please just let me know and I will try and find out....
A lady friend of mine is currently in the Philippines where her father, who passed many years ago, left a property in her name. She is there right now and transferring the title of her property to her aunt, who will be writing her a check for....lets say 40k.
What type of taxes will she be paying when she returns to the US and is there any way around getting taxed?
