Hi all,

When a friend opened a credit card, he was told by the issuer that there would be no interest charges for 18 mos. He is now being charged interest and was told by the issuer that the teaser rate only lasted 12 months. He asked for a recording of the initial conversation he had with the representative when he opened the account, but the issuer told him they would only release that in response to a subpoena.

I'm an attorney and told him he can't get a court to issue a subpoena before he files a lawsuit (I recognize this may be false, but it's my experience). Does anyone know how to compel the company to release the recording short of filing a lawsuit?

Thanks!
