The Chinese historically used bicycles as everyday mass transport. The general view has been that as the nation transitions from an emerging to developed nation, that a switch from bikes to automobiles would naturally follow. it may not turn out to be the case, even as an e-bike craze takes hold there.

Strangely, to date no one company has developed the optimal e-bike and proceeded to dominate the space. Instead there are hundreds or maybe thousands of companies putting out a huge assortment of such bikes. It would seem logical that an EV company like TSLA or perhaps a bicycle firm like DIIBF or a scooter maker would have pushed in to fill this gap, but not the case (yet). Does anyone here know who is currently the largest manufacturer of ebikes in the world, and the percent marketshare they hold?
