My wife needs a uterine septum repaired before she goes ahead and gets pregnant.  We were planning on starting trying get pregnant towards the end of the summer.  She knows she has a uterine septum because in China they detected it when she was 19. She is 28 now.  Now, we live in New Jersey and need to get it repaired.

Anyways, we went to the OB/GYN. There, we needed: 1) Appointment 1 - consultation + blood test 2) Appointment 2 - ultrasound 3) Appointment 3 - another consultation where they told us blood results and ultrasound results and then told us to get an MRI

So then we got an MRI from some place, which was another $600.

After the Ultrasound and MRI, they referred us to another doctor who specializes in reproductive medicine to do the surgery.

We met with her today. $325 for consultation.  All she did was talk and talk.  And then she said we needed 1. her own ultrasound and 2. her X-ray before she does the surgery.

We feel like the doctors are just pushing us from place to place getting tests we don’t need.  We don’t want to keep paying for ultrasounds and MRI’s.  We know the surgery is going to be expensive.  Our insurance costs $600 a month and has a $6000 deductible.

What options do we have?  We might even fly back to China to get this done. It seems like the Doctors in the United States are just trying to squeeze us for every penny we have.
