Hey everyone, just thought I'd share this anecdote:
I received my first promotion, got a $3.85 raise. Turns out, other people that got promoted at the same time got a $4 raise. Based on some hard evidence, I do more/better quality work than a lot of my peers so I figured I'd give it a shot and asked my supervisor and managers for more money. They said no, I don't have enough justification for a bigger raise, but the $0.15 difference was a mistake. So they gave me a $300 gift card to even it out!
Anyways! I didn't get a raise but if I never asked I never would've gotten the $300!
Also, no, I didn't bring up "they got more money" as a reason that I should get more money.
