Hi guys. I have a credit card account with PNC. My payment due date was April 16th (Easter Sunday). I was busy with my family that day and forgot to pay until the 17th (paid the full amount minus late fee). As I just stated, they charged a $25 late fee because of this, which seems excessive for simply forgetting by a day. I called the corporate office multiple times and even visited a branch to speak with the manager, but they all stated that since they waived a late fee back in September of 2016, they can't do it again in a 12 month period. Corporate policy was what they said, and I kept escalating up as far as I could everytime I called.

This is where it gets interesting. As I said, they charged me a late fee for not paying my balance on April 16th, Easter Sunday. However, according to the Credit CARD Act of 2009 Section 106(a)(2):

*WEEKEND OR HOLIDAY DUE DATES .—If the payment due date for a credit card account under an open end consumer credit plan is a day on which the creditor does not receive or accept payments by mail (including weekends and holidays), the creditor may not treat a payment received on the next business day as late for any purpose.’’. *

Since the due date of April 16th was on Easter Sunday, and they are charging me a late fee for paying on the 17th, is this technically an illegal fee?

Please let me know if I am missing something. Thanks.
