I'm seeing the documentary Inside Job, about the 2008 financial crisis, and more or less in the middle one of the interviewed guests said that between 2001 and 2006 40% of the S&P500 firms' profits came from financial institutions.
My question is, does anyone know any database where I can see from which sectors/industries the profits/losses of the S&P500 come from?
