I'm about to order my second pair of Zenni glasses and was wondering about what you all think of Zenni's standard anti-reflective coating (the $4.95 option) vs no coating at all (the free option). I've read various places that people say that no coating is better than the standard coating for the purposes of keeping them clean. I don't care about the clean factor though. What I want to know is, does the standard anti-reflective coating actually prevent a lot of glare? If I don't get the coating, will there be glare that stops me from seeing?
Thanks for any advice.
For reference, my first pair from Zenni was an experiment to see if I could live with their cheapest offerings. I did one of the $6.95 pairs with the free 1.57 mid-index lenses and the $4.95 coating. I got them and was totally fine with them, but my wife refused to be seen in public with me wearing them and said I looked like a pervert. So now I'm shopping for a more stylish pair.
Edit: I decided to just see for myself and went ahead and ordered two of the same pair of $6.95 glasses, one with the standard coating and one with no coating. Certainly the topic is still open to discussion, however, either way I will update this post when both pairs get here.
