Any advice will be appreciated.
Backstory Information:
-
Clean from gaming for a few months, still often end up craving it and end up wasting time watching twitch streams. End up watching for hours on some days.
-
Friends communicate through internet (only reason I got Snapchat. I turned off notifications - do feel a bit left out though - or maybe just teenage hormones. I don't really have other communication to them, so I keep the social media).
-
Realizing how different my views are than my friends - situational friends I guess (small town, in school) They're good people, just realized how...disconnected I feel from them. Feeling lonely I guess.
-
Interests differ from people in real life, I use internet to read discussions about what I enjoy - sometimes end up down a rabbit hole and get caught too deep in blogs etc.
Ways I use internet in okay ways:
- Schoolwork
- Listening to music
- Learning
- Good television shows
- Reddit (cleaned up subscriptions)
I almost always end up on:
- blogs / tumblr (usually crack stuff about tv shows)
- reddit (popular/all)
- youtube (not music or good content)
- television shows I watch simply to avoid work
I've tried StayFocus, but just kept disabling it. I also tend to move onto my phone where it doesn't work (tumblr is my guilty pleasure, but I have cleaned it up to only 5ish blogs I look at)
- Planning on moving everything upstairs to a minimal room and desk. Simplifying everything for better focus and hopefully will get by ass up from the chair.
Any suggestions on what to do to cut down time mindlessly browsing? I keep using the internet as a way to escape stress, not sure what to replace it with. Any hobby suggestions or just advice in general? Thanks.
