Single guy living alone here. My grocery bill is about $450-$500 per month, which isn't the worst in the world, but it's still terrible.
I don't buy a lot of junk food and a lot of my costs come from trying to prevent spending too much on food by buying canned food, etc.
I don't know how to cut it down, because most of the stuff I have is pretty basic. Juice, milk, bacon, eggos, condiments, pasta, eggs, chicken, beef, cans, bread, cold cuts, cheese, 2 pre cooked meals (not frozen) for busy days (that's not even $10 in total), plus toiletries and $10 for washing everything at the laundry room twice a month.
I buy only one small box of candy each time I go to the store (I go twice per month) and that's like $3.99, so it's definitely not coming from there.
I mean, I can see myself cutting all juice out of my diet and sticking to water, but beyond that I have no idea how to eat a 2000 Calorie diet per day and NOT spend this much money. I don't want to stick to rice only meals and like to experiment with my diet.
Help? Or is it good at $450?
BTW, I live in Canada and this is in Canadian dollars. It's about $350 USD.
