Last summer I built a gazebo and you all were quite helpful with that, so thank you again. This summer I'm going to build a new work shed and my research has led me to question how I did the footings for the posts that my gazebo is built upon. My gazebo is 12' x 12' and sits on nine 4"x4" posts that are sunk three feet deep in holes that are about 10" to 12" in diameter. I poured gravel in the bottom of each hole and then compacted it. I then put the posts in the holes, plumbed them and then poured concrete and built up a concrete mound around each post to make sure that water doesn't pool around it. Did I mess up by not putting a block on top of the gravel and then resting the post on top of the block? For some reason, this never came up when reading and talking to people about doing the posts for the gazebo, but it's all over the place for the shed. Is this because of the difference in the structures or did I just miss something and now my gazebo is going to sink into the ground or fall over? Thanks again. via /r/DIY http://ift.tt/2nttGK6
