Little bit of background, I'm 17 one 14year sibling, and I'm starting to try and help with my families money problems, neither of my parents have well paying jobs, something like 15k per year, they were the clubbing/party type in their youth ignoring school and stuff, so they don't have GCSE'S or many at C above so they're kind of limited to what they've been working as for these past years. Currently living in the typical 2 bedroom UK terraced house of which the entire neighbourhood consists of and we desperately need to move out of this place it's that depressing. My dad currently is trying to be made "redundant", overheard them talking about it so that the money he gets from it (I heard around 15k although I know it's possible to get paid little or nothing I think) will help pay towards moving out, we rent the house were currently in (they're in pretty big debt, not sure how deep) and I THINK the money from this redundancy will help pay the rent and moving to these new 3 bedroom houses that have been built across the road. Is this a really terrible idea? If my dad doesn't get 15k but is still made redundant then we're basically screwed because my mom won't bring in enough money by herself for bills, food etc, I'm 17 trying to get a part time job at an engineering place as that's the work placement for the college course I'm doing, my brother won't be getting much money (like corner shop pay), and then there's the whole difficultly of getting a job AFTER the redundant thing (my mom says he's been trained in 5 things over the past like 20 years, can't remember what it was called), and then there's also the massive debt problem. I'm not sure what they can do, what me and my brother van do, and how much we'd get screwed if it doesn't go right (also I'm off to uni in a year so I won't be there for everything). I'd appreciate any help on any aspect of the problems I've just mentioned, and I'm really sorry for the long winded post, definitely didn't need to be this long, sorry.
