Hello, /r/Frugal. I am a Computer Science major about halfway through college. Also, I have a part time, minimum wage job.
As I've grown older and more experienced, I've learned that I absolutely hate working for other people. I really want to be self sufficient once I graduate. Thus, over time, I've become more and more frugal.
I know that it's unrealistic, but it's my dream. I wouldn't mind working for several years. I'd like to buy a small house or some land and I need $$$ to do that. But eventually, I'd just like to live by my own means.
Here are some of the skills/activities I've been pursuing to help with my goal of self sufficiency: Android app development and programming in general, Web design, permaculture, beekeeping, greenhouse management, chicken farming, solar power, rain barrels, online surveys.
I only have four more semsters to go (provided I don't fail anything). I can hardly wait!
Thoughts?
