I'm 24 years old and I've been active duty in the military for 6 years now. I've been giving money to my mother every paycheck since I joined and I've slowly increased it to $200 a month which covers our cell phone plan plus a little bit extra ($25- $30). Fortunately I have no debt right now but I desperately need to finish my emergency fund because I am moving to new base where I'll be making much less money and spending more on rent. My mother has recently asked for $2500 for a vet bill for our family pet. Of course I worry about my mother's well being because she is divorced and only works the occasional seasonal job, and I care very much for our pet that is sick right now. In situations like these I feel that money is replaceable however I won't be prepared to make my move to a new base where my finicial situation is going to change greatly. It's hard to say no because I am someone who always wants to care for my family.
