Hi guys, so I started working at my company about a month ago. When I started and signed contracts, we agreed that I'd work for 40 hours a week at an hourly rate. My boss then told me he would expect me to be working more than that, basically telling me that it'd be unpaid.
At the start, I was working 40 hours a week, and things were super. I was doing well and meeting expectations. Then we had a big project that required us to bring on two additional developers from a big SF based company.
These two basically will come into our office at night. I'm expected to continue my 9-5 and then work alongside them from 6:30-9, and weekends without any increase in pay. Since we are a small company, there may even be a decrease in pay (I'll figure this out tomorrow).
I'm young, and I'm very new in this field. In fact, this is the first job I've gotten in this field. These developers are working currently at a big SF company with a few years with this company alone, and working alongside them would be a great opportunity to grow. I'm actually very excited to work on them, because they're very smart and it'd really expand my capabilities.
The company I work for doesn't have the revenue to pay myself and them. They're not going to be working here forever, just on this current project. It may take 1-2 months. How should I feel about this? Should I just go along with it, or should I ask for some other form of compensation?
