I see all these posts about saving to buy a house and retire. I'm $30 years old working 40 hours a week in a job that pays $9 a hour. I'm looking for a new job that maybe I can work my way up a little to get a pay raise. I didn't go to college and have no real skills. I've had a bad life but won't get into that here. I'm just terrified that I'm going to have to work at a place like McDonald until I'm 95 and about to die. I live pay check to pay check and don't have a penny in savings, all I had just saved up just went into a $700 brake job for my car. That took me well over a year to save up and super struggled to save every penny. At least that is good and reliable and I won't have to put any more money into that for a while. I messed up and I will never have any thing other than a shitty retail job that pays minimum wage. How would someone like me even think about retirement or is that just not an option for me.
