Hi all. Yesterday my full phone battery died after I made one five-minute phone call and it dawned on me that it's about time to cash in our phone upgrades. My partner and I are on an AT&T plan (4GB shared data with unlimited talk/text) for $170 and have been since Dec 2012. But, when I went to look up the upgrade options, the fees are so much higher than expected. The activation and tax alone is a one-time fee ranging from $171-194 (depending on device) and our monthly bill will jump to $207-214 for thirty months. This seems crazy to me considering we've never upgraded before and we've paid all of our bills on time for over four years. Is this normal?
But, this has led me to consider other carriers. We never come close to using all the data in the plan we have now so we could definitely scale back and we're not under contract so switching would be fine for a good price. However, researching this online is quite cryptic and I know there's probably hidden fees somewhere. Any advice for a gal looking for a decent deal on getting a new phone?
