Hello r/personalfinance!

This is being posted on a throwaway account because people I know irl know my main Reddit account and I really don't want them knowing about the situation I'm dealing with.

I am 21 and live with my parents while I'm in school. Ever since I graduated high school they told me that if I wanted to live at home that I needed to: 1. Be in college and 2. have at-least a part time job. Of-course, I had nowhere else to go so I went to school for general studies and got a job at a grocery store.

My two issues are the following:

  1. I have no idea what I want to do in school. I didn't want to start college immediately because I didn't want to have loans while I still wasn't sure what I wanted to do.

  2. Without getting too personal, my family is taking all of my money and I have pretty much no choice in the matter. My parents constantly need money for various reasons (which at this point I'm unsure if they are legitimate.) I'm driving my younger brothers car because he is in school and I don't have one. I'm paying his $140/m car payment on it because he claims he can't work while in school.

I'm stuck right now because if I want a place to live I have to be in school, which is pretty useless because I'm unsure of a degree and I'm rapidly accumulating loans from it. Also, I'm going to be 22 soon and I have no money in my savings due to my family.

The grocery store that I am working at has been offering a full time position to me for the past month and I'm debating on taking it while I'm deciding if school is the proper route for me. They're offering profit sharing, insurance and holiday bonuses if I do take it. On top of this, I'll be working more hours (40-50) so I'll actually be making an income.

Current income: $10.50/hr before taxes, I average 15-20 hrs a week atm ( asked for less because I'm in school)

Expenses (not including what my parents ask me for): - Car insurance: $140/m (Father pays part of it) - Car payment: $140/m - Phone: $40/m - Gas: $50/m - Food: $60/m - Gym membership: $20/m - Spotify: $10/m

At this point I'm unsure whether to take this position or stay in school and hope to find a career path I like.

Any suggestions?
