Warning: I'm clueless to most of the lingo and I'm really just looking for a starting point. If you were 18 what tips and tricks did you wish you knew? What are some pieces of information on investing and saving that you didn't know until later that would've been crucial at a younger age?
I just turned 18 and I would like to start investing some of my money. I really have no idea where to start or what I should be focusing on. I have a Robinhood account with a few hundred dollars on it, my only intentions were to learn some of the basics and start trading.
I hear mutual funds are a good starting point and some long term stocks are, but what are things that you wish you would've known when you were 18?
Final pieces...I have around $4000 I'm willing to invest.
I'll be heading to college in the fall so ill be poor and in debt soon.
I have a job (Bestbuy sales consultant...), they offer a 401k but I think it's too late because I'll be leaving once college begins.
Any good books I should look into reading?
Thank you for all the help. Just scrolling through these forums has made a big difference for me.
