For the past 2 years my Ex has claimed my kids on his tax return. I only find out after the tax preparer tells me my tax return Has been rejected because a dependent has already been claimed. I file my taxes early meaning I give my tax preparer all of my info and tell him at midnight efile my tax return when the IRS opens I even call the preparer yes at 11:55 pm to ensure my tax will be sent at midnight. But then the tax preparer says " my return has been rejected" and says it's because the dependent has been claimed. Help I want to avoid this for this tax season how can I avoid my ex claiming the kids before me. Yes I have full custody, yes the kids live with me and I take them to school and, I make about $37,000 a year and I understand the IRS opens up for efile Jan 23rd. So I plan on having my tax preparer push send on my return at 12 midnight.
