I'm currently a bartender and at a restaurant and have averaged $18-$20/hr($2.13/hr + tips.) I'm interviewing with the owner of all three restaurants Tuesday for to be the new assistant front of house manager and the posted wage is $15. Even though the position pays less than what I make now, it allows more hours so my income would increase about $7000 annually, but so would my hours, by worked 8-10 hours a week. Also, I know that the owner is very resistant to offering more than $15/hr. How do I make an effective case that they're not offering me a raise, just an increase in responsibilities and time required of me? Or am I completely off base and the ability to work longer shifts/more hours is a type of benefit in itself?
