I use Consumer cellular for my cell service, it totals under $30 a month for a minimal minute plan and a 500mb data plan. I very, very rarely go over, but when I do, they just upgrade me to the next plan, which ends up being another $5-$10.
I spend most of my time at home with my kids, so I am on wifi for probably 60-70% of my time, so I am considering porting my number to google voice. It only costs $20 to port. Then I could drop the minute portion of my plan and use only data. If this works, my cell phone bill would go to just under $30 to just over $10 a month!
Would this work? Am I able to port my number to google voice and maintain consumer cellular's service for data?
Has anyone done something like this?
