Hi, I’m 17, turning 18 in a month, and I have a decent idea on what to do but don’t have anyone I know personally I can count on as a “mentor”. I’m currently a high school senior committing to University of Arizona for MechEngineering. I want to turn my bank account into something I can maybe invest in while I’m in college and hopefully have a decent sum to use for a deposit on an apartment or anything I might need after graduation.

I also want to know if getting a credit card would be a good idea for me now to build credit. I have a teenager account with Chase since I was 15 and another account with NavyFederal since last year, which I use mostly. If either of these banks are a good place to start for me, that would something I can look into more.

I work a part time job, under-the-table pay, generating around $50-$150 a week. However I expect to spend around $250-300 each month on gas, food, and any other expenses. (Which I have no issue paying for, why I think getting a credit card may be a good idea)

Currently in my bank accounts, I have $950 in my Chase and $650 in my NavyFederal, then expecting to get paid $2,000 for a motorcycle I sold soon. Overall $3,600 in savings.
