I’m 38 and an immigrant to the US. I didn’t start earning or even have a retirement fund until I was ~35.

I make around 300k pre tax in a VHCOL area.

I’ve been somewhat irresponsible with money my whole life, despite being academically and professionally successful and my savings are actually kind of pitiful. I do own a condo though.

I have around 80k in 401k from my previous and current employers.

I know I’m kind of late to the party here but what’s driven me to explore this further is that I may probably never settle down with anybody…I honestly have no real interest in investing, so I want to at least “make my money work for me” in the laziest but higherst yielding way possible:

I’ve heard about:

  1. HYSA
  2. Roth IRA
  3. ETF’s

I’m kind of inclined to do Roth and High yield savings mainly because of my lack of knowledge/care about the stock market.

Does anybody see any obvious flaws if I just start dumping around 1k into the HYSA month? I would probably put around 10k into the HYSA to begin with.
