Greetings,
Question is not for me but rather its for my mother.
My father died in 2020, he has a 401k with a 2025 target fund valued over 100k. I am finally helping her with the transfer, my first question is which route would be best for her is she is currently 58, can I help her open an Inherited IRA with a place like Fidelity and transfer to that? I think that option has the best benefits, from what I can understand.
Second question, regarding portfolio selection, my current personal 401k is 100% FXIAX, it's been a wonderful performance so far, Im thinking maybe she could do the same, Im just worried that it might be a bit too volatile for such a close retirement, I want to make sure she can grow the money as much as she can, what suggestions do you have in this regard, go significantly more conservative?
