So my mom (70 y/o) was checking out at TJ Maxx and was tricked into getting the store credit card for 10% off. She kept asking if it was a credit card and the associate kept saying no, it’s just a discount program. My mom gave over her SSN/info (which I know should have been a red flag for her), and therefore applied for what was really the store credit card. My mom’s common sense is not great and she is terrible with money. The last thing she needs is a store credit card. I called Tjmaxx to complain, but should I also cancel this card or would it hurt her credit too much? What’s the best thing to do?

PS – if I sound too up in her business, it’s because my siblings and I have had bail her out of several bad financial decisions throughout the years. She’s finally at a point where her finances are good and she has one small credit limit CC. She has amassed crazy credit card debt in the past.
