Hey all,
I'm an international teacher and my new school is partnered with JH (they don't match, but they provide 10% extra a month). I can put up to 23k in a JH account but they have two yearly fees: 1) .57% fee 2) .80% admin fee. Making it 1.37% a year. I think this is way too high.
I already invest in VTI through Schwab and I only need to worry about the ETF expense ratio (very small). I'm wondering if it makes sense for me to contribute to this 401k since I'm ineligible to contribute to a Roth due to claiming the foreign income exclusion.
Basically it boils down to the money lost through the fees and tax-free withdrawals once I hit retirement age.
Early 30s.
Thanks!
