Hello Investors - I have a question that I am not able to find a satisfactory answer to. I have read a lot of articles that state that dividend equity investing should be a good share of our overall portfolio. I am in my late 30s, fairly risk tolerant and invest for the long-term (fully understanding that some years, the market goes down). I am not seeking any income for at least the next 20 years. Should I considering having any portion of my portfolio in dividend equity index funds/ETFs? I am failing to understand the rationale/appeal for dividend equity investing for someone in my situation. The dividend + growth of something like an SCHD is significantly below that of say VTI. I was hoping at least the volatility of SCHD is much lower than VTI but that too is not the case. So, why should anyone not seeking income bother investing in SCHD vs. VTI. I trust that that is a good reason as the people writing these articles are certainly more knowledgable than me. So, seeking someone to educate me on this matter. Thanks in advance!
