Hello everyone,

Long story short. I bought some small amount of cryptocurrency from a small person to person exchange which was not a wise move. Everything went well, and fast forward a few days my identity is stolen. Phone line is taken over and answered by someone else. Credit was hit from all angles, and my account is wiped.

I filed an identity theft report and a police report and an IC3 report. Chase refunded me. Then suddenly with no notice they reverse all of the refunds telling me one of the transactions was authorized which it indeed was. I even mentioned it in my letters to them and in my police reports.

They said since one of them was authorized. They couldn’t do anything. This seems ridiculous. Authorizing one transaction does not set the precedent to wipe my whole account.

I escalated it to the executive office with the CFPB using the above as an argument, and their support was even worse than regular customer support. Some dismissive agent just called me, and said they couldn’t do anything over phone that they’d mail me a letter. Well, they sent a letter explaining the same story that one transaction was authorized which means (and I am confident of) that they didn’t even read my documentation or arguments.

I am living paycheck to paycheck now. Should I file another CPFB complaint and send it also to their office by certified mail? What other agencies can I file a report with? I heard emailing the CEO and other executives can also help.

Please help… Thank you
