Inverse etf options do not seem to be for anything but short term investing. I’m looking for something like an inverse etf for a downturn that I can start hedging my bets with.

What do you all do for this? Not wanting to drop thousands on puts that expire potentially worthless. Not wanting to put money in bonds or gold. Just something that is like an etf that I can dump say 10 percent of my savings in or know is a safe harbor during downturns.
