My father passed away today. I have one brother and one sister and my dad had a lot of assets and savings which we will be inheriting equal parts. All of us in our immediate family are very close and we plan to manage this whole situation together.
However, we also have a BIG family, my dad had 8 brothers and sisters and they each have sons and grandchildren so we are A LOT.
Im not someone who distrusts family, but my dad always liked to help my family so they all know how much he had to give.
I also hear a lot of stories about distant relatives trying to take advantage of people when there is a family death. So my sister, brother and myself are planning to keep an eye out for any of these signs.
What are ways someone could take advantage of us during a time like this? We want to be prepared and keep an eye out on anyone planning to take advantage of what my dad had.
