I got into a car crash the other day. Making a left turn on a green arrow and the other driver turned right without stopping on red (Florida). Have everything on dashcam.
I called my insurance company (Progressive) to inform them of the crash. Sent them tons of pictures of both cars, the dashcam footage, other persons insurance card, etc. I have full coverage (100/300) for comp/collision with a $500 deductible.
My adjuster said I should call the other persons insurance company and file a claim with them. The other person has an insurance company I've never heard of, and it's been tough trying to get a hold of someone at that company.
My adjuster called me today and said that based upon the dashcam I sent, I am 100% not at fault. They said that rather than me have to hassle with their company, they would just have me go through them (my insurance, Progressive) and they will waive the deductible. This way I can get the care repaired and my rental without having to wait.
My car is less than 2 years old without a scratch on it (Ford Bronco Sport). I'd like to do a diminished value claim due to the crash, which I believe needs to be settled before they can try and subrogate the cost of the repairs.
Is going through my company a good course of action, and how to I get diminished value?
Thanks for any advice.
