Hi all :)
Like the title says, no financial education growing up, 25 y/o and just starting to play catch up.
I work for myself, about to transfer to corporate life as soon as I get an offer (my job is great but pay is too small) aka I’ll have access to corporate accounts like retirement stuff and plan to live a 9-5 till retirement.
All I have saved is an emergency fund in a HYSA, $1k minimum in my checking, and $1k cash for big emergencies. That’s it.
Now what? I’ve heard “compounding interest, a penny today could be $282849954 in 484737 years blah blah blah” my brain turns off immediately with finance talk and I get overwhelmed.
The tiniest amount of research I’ve done/listened to mentions investing in S&P 500. I’ll have about $300/month to throw towards future me, in any capacity such as retirement. I just need my money to grow, and I don’t want a lot of risk. I’m just an artist who is overwhelmed with my next steps, as this is the most amount of savings I’ve ever done and I’ve never gotten to this step.
Any help is VERY appreciated.
