I have a scenario:
Suppose the CEO of a company is having a phone conversation in a public place and talks about some non public information. This conversation is overheard by another random person. This other random person then posts about it online, say, in a reddit post. I read this post.
Assume the info in the reddit post is true. If I trade based on what I read in this post, is that insider trading or otherwise problematic?
I don't think it is but want to get some other opinions. Also, if information about what happened is publicized, is anyone involved in trouble?
