I recently moved 6 blocks away. Went to update my address and now my GEICO 6 months premium increased by $400 because of "Changed Vehicle Location". I called them to ask for more info on it and they basically said it was because of my zipcode change. I only moved 6 blocks away, same Brooklyn borough, not downtown to uptown, just 6 blocks away. Their answer was to just suck it up and change everything to the lowest coverage amount.This is absolutely ridiculous. I really can't fathom how moving 6 blocks away would all of a sudden increase my premium by that much. I've really never felt such "full force" of corporate greed in my life and I don't think I will ever forget this.
I really plan on calling again. Any advise, on how to handle this?
Edit: Was paying about $800 for 6 months premium. With this new added $400 cost, that's a 150% increase.
