I imagine I’m not the only one who’s ever felt this way. Obviously I’m not.
I had about 50k in retirement but had to use it when I was laid off.
That said I’m fortunate enough to be starting a new job soon with a generous 401k match.
I’m 32 years old with $0 retirement savings. New job will allow me to effectively contribute $25k per year including both personal and company contributions. If I’m able to maintain this pace over the years and leave it alone until 65–will I be able to make up for lost time and still have a decent retirement?
Probably a loaded question, and I apologize. I’ve just been feeling down on myself for having to burn my savings. Looking for encouragement that I can still look forward to a good retirement that will allow me to relax and spend time with my family.
