My grandmother passed away over a year ago and had some credit card debt (approx 30k) the only thing she owned is an old Honda Civic worth approx 3k, I've been through a probate lawyer to attempt to get the vehicle in my name so I can get rid of it, but her debt being sent to collections is holding up that process. I've been in contact with the collections agency and they will not take the appox. value of the car to settle the debt so I can get the title in my name. My lawyer is saying i just have to wait for the debt to drop off, which is taking forever and the longer tht car sits the more i will have to put into it to sell. Wondering how long it generally takes for debt like this to drop it off there's anything I can do to speed up this process, i don't really care about getting money from the vehicle at this point i just want it off my property.
